Welcome
Welcome to the Hotel de la Croix Rousse. We are situated in one of Lyon's most charming neighborhoods and within the boundaries of one of Europe's largest urban UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
La Croix Rousse was traditionally home to many of Lyon’s silk weavers or “canuts” who have contributed so much to the city’s colourful history. A stone’s throw away from the hotel you can still see original looms in action at Maison des Canuts where silk is still woven and can be purchased in house.
The canuts may have moved on but the atmosphere of the Croix Rousse remains, a village all of its own within one of France’s biggest cities. Animated conversation abounds in the many street cafés that line the leafy boulevards around the hotel, the regular markets offer the visitor a real slice of French life and the area is awash with shops of every description and an inviting variety of restaurants not to be found anywhere else in the city.
Hotel de la Croix Rousse is just a few minutes away from the town center by the city’s modern underground network being as the nearest station is just 50 meters from the hotel entrance. You can however take a leisurely descent down the slopes and staircases into the city via the “traboules” or tunnels that this part of Lyon is so famous for.
